Sion has lead RUSTA from the beginning. With a 22 year RAF career behind him he started his flying career on Nimrod MR2’s before moving to the MQ9 Reaper. Sion spent hislast three years on exchange with the United States Air Force as an Instructor before realising the exciting opportunities that Small Unmanned Air Systems could bring to the commercial environment. Winner of the DJI global aerial photography competition in 2014 Sion is experienced in many different aspects of UAV operations,

Jim Rowlands

Head Of Academy

 
Head Of Academy, Jim Rowlands is responsible for making sure we adhere to our core values while staying fresh and relevant within the industry. With two years of SUAS instruction already under his belt and previous operational helicopter experience with the Puma fleet of the RAF make him an ideal leader of the academy.

Caroline Smith MSc BSc(Hons)

The people at RUSTA are passionate about making a significant and long-lasting impact and Caroline Smith is no exception.  As a previous  Senior Forensic Practitioner, Caroline takes her role very seriously and brings a unique scientific element to the team. She we will be your primary point of contact and on hand to deal with all your requirements. 

 Daniel Alward-Smith

A professional aviator through and through, Dan has been with Rusta for two years and has always shone with his attention to detail and his knowledge. As an Army Air Corps pilot, on both rotary and fixed wing platforms, Dan is extremely experienced and qualified to teach and lead.

Charlie McGee

Instructor/Evaluator


On leaving the RAF/MOD after 22 years as an Aeronautical Engineer Charlie became an MOD Specialist Instructional Officer, going on to lead the group, becoming Head of Profession for all three service Specialist Instructional Officer Group, involving all three services (1700 staff). This role required his responsibility for the further development of the coveted defence systems approach to training (DSAT).

He has taught numerous RPC(S) courses, throughout the UK and conducted flight test evaluations. He maintains a keen interest in all matters aviation, whilst maintaining his Private Pilot (Aeroplane) Licence (JAR / EASA / IMC), whilst carrying out the function as Director for a Royal Air Force Cosford Powered Flying Club.
